Ward 6 candidate fora

From the EMMCA Update, February 19:
Don’t Forget: EMMCA’s Ward 6 Candidates' Forum on Thursday, Feb. 20, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, 4th & Independence Ave., SE. Kathy Patterson will be the moderator and the forum will feature candidates Charles Allen, Pranav Badhwar and Darrell Thompson. Co-sponsors include: Eastern Market Metro Community Association, Capitol Hill Public School Parents Organization and Capitol Hill Group Ministry.

There will be three Ward 6 Council election forums featuring Democratic candidates Charles Allen and Darrell Thompson. The dates are:

Friday, Feb. 28, at the Hill Center from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, March 4, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, March 11, at the Shaw Library from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
These forums will be moderated by Andrew Lightman, managing editor of Capital Community News and are sponsored by: The Hill Rag, MidCity DC, ANC 6E, Empower DC, SWNA, CBCC, Westminster Church, the Hill Center, CHRS.

WNDC, Ward2 Democrats, Logan Circle Community Association, and Dupont Circle Citizens Association are hosting a forum for the DC Mayoral candidates. The DC Primary election will be held on April 1, 2014. The race is in full swing. Meet the candidates, ask questions and hear what their plans are and why they are running for the position of Mayor.

Mayoral candidates running are:
Carlos Allen, Muriel Bowser, Christian Carter, Jack Evans, Mayor Vincent Gray, Michael Green, Reta Jo Lewis, Vincent Orange, Andy Shallal, and Tommy Wells

Ward 8 Dems forum rescheduled

The Ward 8 Dems have cancelled their event previously scheduled for February 15.   They report the forum will now take place March 15 at their regularly scheduled meeting.   Attendees will hear from at-large candidates, city council chairman candidates, congressional candidates, and briefly from the DC Democratic State Committee candidates.

GLAA on the candidates

The Gay and Lesbian Activists Alliance of Washington, D.C. today released their ratings of candidates.   Gray, Mendelson, Wells Top GLAA Primary Ratings summarizes the results of the rating of candidate responses to the GLAA survey.   Points Breakdown for GLAA 2014 Primary Ratings contains ratings for candidates in all races.   Questions to mayoral candidates (PDF) were in the areas of public health, public safety, business, and youth.   Questions to council candidates (PDF) were in the areas of public health, public safety, human rights, and seniors.

  • American University/Kennedy Political Union Mayoral Forum, February 12, 7:00 – 8:30 pm
  • Youth Mayoral Candidate's Forum, February 13, 5:00 – 7:30 pm

WAMU mayoral candidate debate Feb. 26

WAMU will host "a major broadcast debate featuring all the Democratic candidates for mayor in the District of Columbia" February 26 at 7:00 pm.   According to the notice on the website,
The forum will be moderated by WAMU, 88.5's Kojo Nnamdi, the host of "The Kojo Nnamdi Show" and "The Politics Hour." It will also feature award-winning WAMU, 88.5 reporters Kavitha Cardoza and Patrick Madden, and WAMU, 88.5 resident political analyst and NBC 4 reporter Tom Sherwood as panelists.

A limited number of tickets will be made available online. The debate will air live on WAMU, 88.5 from 7-9 p.m. on Feb. 26 - and again from 12-2 p.m. on Feb. 27. Audience members will soon be able to submit questions for the candidates through WAMU.org, social media, and through the Public Insight Network.
